13th NHS Radiology & Imaging: Building Resilience and Capacity

The Midlands region, while benefiting from strong academic collaborations and strategic NHS investments, faces significant workforce shortages, coupled with increasing pressure from rural and urban Trusts alike. The post-pandemic demand for diagnostics has outpaced the capacity of the radiology workforce, making imaging backlogs a serious concern.

This event is critically timed to coincide with NHS England’s mid-term review of diagnostic services, especially in relation to the expansion of CDCs and ongoing efforts to reduce waiting lists.

It provides a vital platform for radiology leaders in the Midlands to align their strategies with the NHS Long Term Plan, which prioritises faster diagnostics, improved access to imaging services, and the use of digital technologies to enhance capacity and service quality.
